Extended Fall Family Session
A few years ago, I got a call from a sweet lady named Julia, who reached out to me for an extended fall family session. Someone at her work had referred me, and I was so excited to work with her family! When I met Julia and her family, she looked familiar. It took me a moment to figure it out, but then I remembered—Julia and I had gone to Seville Elementary together, years ago! What a small world!
Fast forward, and I’m always excited when I get my yearly call from Julia to capture her family’s photos. This year, though, she had a special request: an extended family session to celebrate her parents’ 45th anniversary at or near her home. We had to work with everyone’s schedules, kids’ activities, and sports, but we finally found a Sunday that worked for all of us.
Plans Change
It just so happened that the Sunday we chose was windy with tornado warnings! I checked my trusty weather app, Dark Sky, and it looked like we needed to bump up the session by at least an hour. Julia got to work making phone calls, and soon everyone gathered early. Families came in from all over: Ashland, Wadsworth, and Columbus!
We had originally planned to go to the OARDC, but with the weather conditions—rain, tornado warnings, and crazy wind—we decided to stay in Dustin and Julia’s backyard. It turned out to be stunning, with beautiful fall colors and my favorite tall grass. We fought through the strong winds, snapping photos whenever they would die down for a minute.
Family Fun and Laughter
I truly enjoy working with Julia and her family. They are such a joy to photograph, and now I love the rest of the {Yannayon} ladies and their families, too! We had so many laughs, despite the crazy weather.
