As always, when a family reaches out to me to photograph their next child, it truly makes my heart sing! Connecting with families as they grow is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. Grayson’s senior photos on family property were not only meaningful but also a lot of fun! Plus, I wanted to get creative since this was the same special place where his older brother’s photos were taken.
Capturing Grayson’s Senior Photos on Family Property
Grayson’s senior photos on family property posed a creative challenge — how to capture his unique personality while using a place he loves, just like his brother’s session but with a fresh approach. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to learn new lighting techniques from a talented senior photographer in Toledo, Holly Omlor.
Interestingly, it started to sprinkle, and the woods quickly grew dark. However, we embraced the moment and experimented with dramatic lighting in the woods! Kim kept commenting on how cool it was to see the lighting in action and how it transformed the photos.
The dramatic light created what I like to call a “tough guy look” — something many guys really enjoy. Nevertheless, we had a blast creating together! Plus, I brought along my lighting assistant, Mr. Cutshaver, to help hold the light, making the process smooth and fun.
Later, I’ll share a behind-the-scenes photo at the end just for fun!
Exploring Favorite Spots During Senior Photos on Family Property
I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Grayson and his family as we visited all his favorite spots on the property. We even stopped by an old pump that added rustic charm to the photos. Grayson had the Defender all cleaned up for us to ride around the property, which made for some fantastic shots.
Thank you, Miller family, for trusting me once again — I had an absolute blast with you all, including the special guests who tagged along!
