Hey fellow photographer, can we chat a minute?

hiring a private photography editor

How are you? I mean really, how are you?  It’s October, we are all feeling it.  October to the creatives is like April is to the Accountants.  So can we chat a minute? We need to chat about how life can bring BIG changes. How hiring a private photography editor has allowed me to run my business and kick cancers butt!

Hiring a private photography editor has changed my life

Let me take you back to September 2017. I was swamped with wedding season, I had also second photographed 20+ weddings and my senior sessions were pouring in for those fall leaves! This girl was tired, overworked, working a full-time job and facing burn out.  Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my photography business.  But there just needed to be some major changes.  I mean hey!!! I am a wife and a mom, also. Putting my family last, my priorities were wrong, we are not created to be everything to everyone.

JLP was not born overnight, it was a lifelong dream and I had been pursuing it at all costs!  At the end of 2016, I had begun mentoring with Loren of Loren Jackson Photography.  One day en route to or from a wedding my mentor/boss lady/friend, Loren, mentioned again how much hiring an editor had changed her life.  It wasn’t the first time she had told me and it got me thinking.

So I did just that, I sent Jen Kaiser an email.  Jen agreed to take me on a client and she edited my last wedding of the season last year.  Giving up that one wedding gave me the freedom to be a wife and Mom first! No more staying up till the wee hours in the morning to do #allthethings.  It had shown me the change I needed in my life. This is why I needed to hire a private photography editor.

BIG life changes

Fast forward to June of 2018 and being told that the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma was back for the fourth time.  If you would like to read my blog about when cancer has its own agenda, stop here.

Being a business owner, working full time, a wife, mother, to trying to take care of my home and now a cancer fighter.  Back in September of 2016 that one decision I had made proved to be hands down the best decision, I had made.

Hiring a private photography editor, Jen Kaiser.

Freedom to my life

She has brought freedom to my life, she has helped me reclaim my time and life!  You see the whole point, is that if I had not hired an editor, I am sure I would not be able to keep up!

Yes, I still fall behind, I am tired, I can no longer come home from a session and cull my photos right away.  Answering emails sometimes take me days, but rest is my priority now.  BUT  WHAT I CAN do is deliver a wedding gallery in 2-3 weeks because of Jen.  Hiring a private photography editor has given me consistency in my editing, which is something I had been struggling with. If you would like to check out my September 22nd Wedding that Jen edited, stop here!  The Bride and Groom had their gallery delivered to them just shy of 3 weeks, it is our busiest season, remember!

Grateful and thankful are just a few words that sum up how I feel about having Jen as my editor. Having Jen as my editor has given me the ability to have time to rest which is so needed in my

fight right now.

I still love my business, my clients and my job that I am currently am on leave from.

BUT I am learning that I have to put me first!  My biggest job right now is kicking cancer to the curb.

Finally, I want to THANK YOU, Jen! You have given me the gift of time and rest!
